As the leaves start to turn, we’re celebrating a month full of new beginnings at Talbot Interfaith Shelter. Five guests moved into homes of their own, others started new jobs, and thanks to a generous grant from the Mid-Shore Community Foundation, we’re expanding our support for seniors facing homelessness. Team TIS showed up in every way this month, and your generosity continues to turn hope into real stability for our neighbors. Thank you for standing with us!

Letter from the Executive Director
As autumn brings a season of change, Julie Lowe reflects on the hope our kids carry as they head back to school, and shares a personal update about her family. Read her letter to hear why she’s so grateful for this community and the team keeping TIS strong.
Every milestone our guests reach reflects real hard work, resilience, and a determination to build something better. Through our S4 Program, guests are continuing to move forward, step by step, toward lasting stability.
Five guests moved into homes of their own last month! Phil and Derek, along with Rebecca, Dawn, and Karen, all transitioned into apartments. For Dawn and Karen, whose upcoming moves we shared last month, the wait is finally over.
Our guests are moving forward at work, too. Tandra secured a position at the Detention Center, and Latoya will soon start as a dishwasher at Sprout.
One of our guests is also working toward two respected certifications in recovery support: the Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP®) and the 60-hour CCAR Recovery Coach Professional program. Together, they’ll prepare her to help others build resilience and navigate their own recovery, a goal that reflects her heart for lifting up her peers.
None of this happens without you. To our donors, volunteers, and partners: your belief in our mission and investment in our neighbors’ lives makes all the difference. Your generosity provides more than shelter—it creates opportunity, removes barriers, and turns moments like these into reality. Every success we celebrate, we celebrate together.
STYLE FOR SHELTER!

A year ago, Rebecca had spent four years without a place to call home. Today she has a full-time job helping others in recovery at Grace Street Recovery, a new home she shares with two friends from the shelter, and a mischievous beagle named Gracie keeping her on her toes.
