We have been partnering with the Housing Commission for several years to procure transitional apartments at reasonable rates.
We are fortunate to partner with this private landlord who provides 2 apartments for our transitional housing program.
We partner with ACT to provide mental health screening and services to our guests until they can get in with a mental health provider.
The wonderful people at SVDP help with short hotel stays until a room becomes available. They also provide vouchers for food, household goods, clothing, and furniture to program participants moving into our transitional apartments.
NSC provides our guests with energy assistance and occasional rental assistance. They also have a food bank which our guests can utilize. We share information and referrals for shelter applicants.
Each shelter guest has a social worker. They can help coordinate items needed for moving into housing and offer some help with rent on certain occasions. DSS also provides a parenting workshop for our guests.
Their scholarship program has enabled several of our families to afford child care. We also partnered with them to help their single-parent families afford daytime childcare during the pandemic.
Our local CoC is through Mid-Shore Behavioral Health. This is a great resource for all homeless services on the Mid-Shore. They host a Roundtable on Homelessness meeting every second Tuesday of the month.
MSH provides affordable housing for people with a mental health diagnosis as part of Mid-Shore Behavioral Health.
Crossroads provides outreach case management and affordable housing for people with a mental health diagnosis.
TCHD offers classes for guests and staff, including smoking cessation and opioid misuse prevention, as well as prevention of alcohol, tobacco, and other drug abuse.
Job seekers can post resumes online, or on the board at the office. They also provide job counseling. Occasionally we receive referrals from them for people seeking shelter.
They have peer support and daytime activities available for our guests.
We collaborate with MSCFV to provide shelter and services for victims of domestic violence and their families.
They provide a percentage of the homes they build or purchase to TIS for transitional housing.
The YMCA helps to get our children into summer camp programs.
Led by Mid-Shore Behavioral Health, we attend monthly meetings with other local shelter programs to discuss trends, challenges, and how to work together to provide solutions for our homeless neighbors. This is also our referral network.
It is important that we are able to provide every possible resource a guest could need to reclaim their independence and move forward successfully as they progress through our S4 Program and beyond.
We are incredibly fortunate to partner with other organizations throughout the area to provide everything from housing to rental assistance, educational programming to mental health services. It takes a village, and our village is extraordinary!
