It takes many hands to lift one person up! At Talbot Interfaith Shelter, we work with a number of local organizations to make sure that our guests have access to all of the resources they need in order to rebuild their lives.

We are fortunate to partner with this private landlord who provides an apartment for our transitional housing program.
The ACT Team (Assertive Community Treatment)
We partner with ACT to provide mental health screening and services to our guests until they can get in with a mental health provider.
Chesapeake Multicultural Resource Center
ChesMRC assisted with a family in the S4 Program from Guatemala.
Chesapeake Voyagers
They have peer support and daytime activities available for our guests.
Continuum of Care Housing Program
Our local CoC is through Mid-Shore Behavioral Health. This is a great resource for all homeless services on the Mid-Shore. They host a Roundtable on Homelessness meeting every second Tuesday of the month.
Critchlow Adkins Day Care
Their scholarship program has enabled several of our families to afford child care. We also partnered with them to help their single-parent families afford daytime childcare during the pandemic.
Crossroads Community
Crossroads provides outreach case management and affordable housing for people with a mental health diagnosis.
Fello.
They provide a percentage of the homes they build or purchase to TIS for transitional housing. Most recently, guests from the S4 Program moved into Port Street Commons.
Grace Street
Grace Street helps Talbot Interfaith Shelter guests who are in recovery by providing in-house 12 step support meetings.
Housing Commission of Talbot
We have been partnering with the Housing Commission for several years to procure transitional apartments at reasonable rates.
Main Street Housing
MSH provides affordable housing for people with a mental health diagnosis as part of Mid-Shore Behavioral Health.
Mid-Shore Council on Family Violence
We collaborate with MSCFV to provide shelter and services for victims of domestic violence and their families.
Mid-Shore Roundtable on Homelessness
Led by Mid-Shore Behavioral Health, we attend monthly meetings with other local shelter programs to discuss trends, challenges, and how to work together to provide solutions for our homeless neighbors. This is also our referral network.
Neighborhood Service Center
NSC provides our guests with energy assistance and occasional rental assistance. They also have a food bank which our guests can utilize. We share information and referrals for shelter applicants.
Other Shelters on the Mid-Shore
Shelter Alliance - Kent County
TIS is offering guidance to the Shelter Alliance in Kent County as they work towards using our S4 Program as a blueprint to start their own comprehensive program to address homelessness in their community.
St. Vincent de Paul
SVDP helps with short hotel stays until a room becomes available. They also provide vouchers for food, household goods, clothing, and furniture to program participants moving into our transitional apartments.
Talbot County
Talbot County assisted TIS in the application for and administration of a Community Development Block Grant awarded by the State of Maryland.
Talbot County Career Center
Job seekers can post resumes online, or on the board at the office. They also provide job counseling. Occasionally we receive referrals from them for people seeking shelter.
Talbot County DSS
Each shelter guest has a social worker. They can help coordinate items needed for moving into housing and offer some help with rent on certain occasions. DSS also provides a parenting workshop for our guests.
Talbot County Hunger Coalition
The Hunger Coalition is an interagency council that works together to find solutions to hunger and food insecurity in our community.
Talbot County Health Department
TCHD offers classes for guests and staff, including smoking cessation and opioid misuse prevention, as well as prevention of alcohol, tobacco, and other drug abuse.
Talbot Family Network
TFN connects us with grant opportunities and interagency activities to help people in poverty.
YMCA Choptank
The YMCA helps to get our children into summer camp programs.
About Our Service Partners
It is important that we are able to provide every possible resource a guest could need to reclaim their independence and move forward successfully as they progress through our S4 Program and beyond.
We are incredibly fortunate to partner with other organizations throughout the area to provide everything from housing to rental assistance, educational programming to mental health services. It takes a village, and our village is extraordinary!
