Team TIS Tuesday – Transformation Through Art
Welcome back to another Team TIS Tuesday! This week, meet Sue Stockman, a multi-talented artist whose work spans silversmithing, mosaics, painted murals, and found object sculptures based in St. Michaels, MD. Over the span of 3 decades, Sue’s art has been transforming the community and is more than just a visual experience; it’s a celebration of the natural world and a testament to the power of creativity to bring about change. For the past 32 years, Sue has immersed herself in the local art scene, offering her talents to organizations such as the Maryland State Arts Council, Talbot County Arts Council, Oxford Kids Camp, and social services. Her work has touched countless lives, providing art experiences that inspire individuals, enrich communities, and enhance educational settings.
Sue’s recent project is particularly close to our hearts at Talbot Interfaith Shelter – she painted a beautiful picket fence section, currently on display at the the Waters Edge Museum in Oxford (pictured inset), titled ‘Transformation’. Sue’s fence will be auctioned off alongside other artists’ sections in October at a fundraiser to support local nonprofits on the Eastern Shore. Her artwork not only beautifies our community but also symbolizes the strength and resilience of those we serve.
Sue’s deep connection to nature is evident in every piece she creates. As an avid gardener and naturalist, she draws inspiration from the world around her, infusing her work with the beauty and wisdom of the natural environment. This connection is what makes her work so meaningful, and we are incredibly grateful for her contribution to our cause. We invite you to learn more about Sue and explore her incredible body of work at suestockman.com. You can also connect with her on social media to stay updated on her latest projects and initiatives.
