You Make Home Possible!

Having a safe and stable place to stay is a crucial first step towards self-sufficiency. Whether in our sister shelters – Evelyn’s Place and Easton’s Promise– or in our transitional housing, you wrap our guests in comfort and care until they can move into homes of their own!

“The stability that a roof and meal brings is unmatched. I was able to gather my thoughts, work on my mental, physical, and emotional health until I was again capable of making a life for my family."

Your support enables guests to work closely with qualified and compassionate Case Managers who guide them step-by-step through individualized plans for Success and connect them with resources and tools they need to get back on their feet and stay there.

“There were days where I was like, ‘I’ve got to [leave the program],’ but then I would be like, 'No, what they are doing is to help me improve and be better, and I’ve got to stick with that.’ I’m just not used to actually having people care, so it was nice to have everybody rooting for me.”

Thanks to you, guests in the S4 Program have access to a variety of life skills classes, equipping them with knowledge that will help them achieve lasting self-reliance. Subjects include poverty, financial literacy, job readiness, parenting, and more.

“I’m learning to get ahead and hopefully stay ahead. My life has been changing since I’ve been putting things into practice.”

At any given moment, you provide a secure and supportive home for up to 60 guests, including families, single adults, and seniors. Though the circumstances that lead them to TIS differ, they all share the common desire to rebuild their lives and achieve Success.

"On the very first day I moved in, I told myself, 'This won't be easy, but it 'II be worth it.' And it has been -every step of the way. I came in focused on survival, and somewhere along the way, I realized I was being given the chance to rebuild. Not just my life, but my inner self."

When guests arrive in our shelters, many carry the weight of shock, shame, or a sense of failure. The warmth, comfort, and stability they experience during their time at TIS restores their dignity and helps them gain the confidence to take each new step forward towards independence.

"It has been my great pleasure and honor to work with TIS.... It’s such a wonderful home, such a wonderful environment. And it’s so great to see the folks that found a home there, and how well they’re treated, with love and all good things."

We all experience difficulties in life. Often, the only difference between overcoming those difficulties and succumbing to them is a strong support system. Your generosity helps build a safety net that catches our neighbors when they fall and helps them bounce back better than ever!

"As a child, I was one step away from homelessness myself, and I know how valuable [the help TIS provides] is to others. So I’ve supported them since the beginning."

Each year, hundreds of people from every corner of our community share their time, treasure, talents, and TLC to help our neighbors in need. Team TIS is a shining example of the difference we can make when we work together to lift others up. To us, and to our guests, you are superheroes!

"Everybody needs help... We're all made the same. It's good for us all to come together and make us all equal. It's wonderful just being a part of it.”

Our guests become employees of local businesses and make their homes here on the Mid-Shore. Their children attend local schools, develop roots here, and ultimately become the future of our community. Your support helps make the future bright, not just for our guests, but the Mid-Shore as a whole.

"I [support TIS] because I really feel that it is a very worthwhile organization, and is helping a lot of homeless people get on their feet and be successful."

You help us show our community the true face of homelessness — not statistics, but neighbors with stories of resilience and hope. Together, we are changing the narrative and rallying our community to walk beside our neighbors on their journey to self-sufficiency.

"I support the shelter because I realized, but for the grace of God, it could be me who is in need of shelter, and who needs someone to look after my needs. So it gives me great joy... to support the shelter and its needs."

Throughout its history, TIS has remained minimally supported by government funding. The generosity of local individuals, businesses, grantors, and faith communities – extraordinary people like YOU – has allowed us to grow more than tenfold since we started.

"Thank you. You have given me a home, a schedule, a powerful and positive mindset, a higher level of motivation, and a different perspective to life. I am hoping to make everyone proud!"
