National hunger, homelessness awareness week continues

EASTON — With temperatures in the low 20s for the evening of Friday, Nov. 10, many families hunkered down in their cozy, warm homes, hiding from the chill. But for the growing number of homeless Marylanders, the cold temperatures pose a dangerous threat.

At any given time in the United States, there are thousands of homeless families without shelter, food or basic necessities. According to the National Collation for the Homeless, there were 549,000 homeless Americans in 2016. According to Maryland’s Interagency Council on Homelessness, Maryland made up 29,670 of those individuals.
