Guest news this month!

One of our mothers started a new job!

We are so proud of her for taking this important step towards self-sufficiency.

Five more guests recently started participating in a new session of the “Getting Ahead In A Just Gettin’ By World” Program!

During this thirteen week program, our guests will act as peer investigators as they explore the root causes of poverty and discover the “hidden rules” of society.  They also work together to identify the local resources that are available to them, how to make the most of those resources in order to build self-sufficiency, and how to wean off of services as they achieve more and more independence.   “Getting Ahead” is one of the most impactful courses that we offer as part of our S4 Program.

A new resource for guests in recovery!

When we have guests who are in recovery from drug or alcohol addiction, they are  required to engage in an outside program while staying with us.  In addition, we have been providing a relapse prevention class entitled “Staying Quit.”  We are excited to announce that we have now added another resource to assist our guests in getting back on their feet.  Our new class is called “Making Amends,” and focuses on repairing relationships.  We are so glad to provide another service that will help our guests on their journey to build a brighter future!

Family prepared for upcoming birth of their child

When we announced that one of our families was expecting a child in July, the community came together to provide our mom and dad with everything they need.  Thanks to you, they are ready to welcome the newest addition to their family!
