April Letter from the Executive Director, Julie Lowe

Dear Friends,

What a night for Team TIS!

On behalf of all of us at Talbot Interfaith Shelter, thank you for making our 10th Annual Lip Sync Battle such an incredible, joy-filled success. Whether you took the stage, cheered from the audience, sponsored a team, volunteered your time, or helped spread the word—you showed up for this community in a powerful way.

Because of you, we met our goal of raising $150,000. That’s not just a milestone worth celebrating—it represents one-tenth of our entire operating budget. Those dollars go directly to providing safe shelter, warm meals, and the comprehensive support our guests need to move from homelessness to stability. Every dollar helps a neighbor take the next step toward independence.

And true to form, you made it fun. The energy in the room, the creativity on stage, the laughter we shared—it was a reminder of what makes this community so special. Talbot County shows up with heart, and you proved that once again.

I also want to be honest with you. While we are celebrating this success, our work is far from finished. As we approach the end of our fiscal year in June, we still have important fundraising goals to meet. The need for shelter and services continues to grow here on the Mid-Shore, and we must keep pace.

If the Lip Sync Battle inspired you, I encourage you to stay involved. Consider making an additional gift, becoming a monthly supporter, or helping us connect with others who believe in this mission. That continued commitment is what keeps our doors open and our programs strong.

Thank you for being part of this work—for showing up, for lifting up your neighbors, and for believing that together, we can make homelessness rare, brief, and non-recurring in our community.

With deep gratitude,

Julie Lowe
