May Letter from the Executive Director, Julie Lowe

To our beloved Team TIS,

I want to speak candidly with you today. Like many other nonprofit organizations, Talbot Interfaith Shelter is facing a very difficult financial moment.

The need for shelter and housing support across the Mid-Shore continues to grow. More families are living paycheck to paycheck, more seniors are struggling with rising costs, and more of our neighbors are finding themselves one emergency away from homelessness. Every week, we receive calls from people with nowhere else to turn.

We are currently serving the highest number of guests we’ve ever served at one time, and yet our waiting list continues to grow. Well over 100 local families, adults, and seniors are standing by, hoping for a safe place to call home as they rebuild their lives.

While the demand for our services continues to climb, food, utilities, insurance, maintenance, transportation, and staffing expenses have all risen dramatically.

Simply put, our current resources are stretched thin as we are called upon to serve even more neighbors in need. We are asking for more robust support from those who believe that every person deserves safety, dignity, and the opportunity to reclaim their independence.

Your donation does far more than provide temporary shelter. It enables families to move into stable housing, helps individuals find employment, provides a secure and caring environment for children, and gives people the tools to build lasting self-sufficiency.

We need your additional financial support in the coming weeks so we can continue to provide life-changing Shelter, Stability, and Support as our neighbors work to achieve Success in our S4 Program!

If Talbot Interfaith Shelter has ever touched your heart, inspired you, or reflected the kind of community you want to live in, please consider making a meaningful gift today.

This work belongs to all of us. Over the course of 17 years, together we have built something compassionate and transformative for our community. I believe we can continue that mission — but we cannot do it without YOU.

Thank you for standing with Talbot Interfaith Shelter and with our neighbors who need us now more than ever.

With deep gratitude,

Julie Lowe
