December Letter from the Executive Director, Julie Lowe

To Our Beloved Team TIS,

As we come to the close of another year, I want to pause and reflect with gratitude on what we have accomplished together—and to share where we are headed.

This year has been one of meaningful growth for Talbot Interfaith Shelter. Through our successful S4 Program (Shelter, Stability, Support, Success), we have supported more individuals and families than ever before, helping our neighbors not only find safety and stability, but move forward with dignity and hope. Because of your generosity, people experiencing homelessness have secured housing, gained employment, strengthened life skills, and reclaimed a sense of purpose. These outcomes are not accidental; they are the direct result of a community that chooses compassion and action.

At the same time, the need in our community continues to grow by leaps and bounds. More households are struggling with rising housing costs, limited affordable units, and unexpected financial hardship. Each week, we hear from neighbors who have never before imagined they might need shelter or support, many of them seniors. As demand increases, so does our responsibility to respond with effective, well-resourced programs.

Over the past year, Talbot Interfaith Shelter has expanded services, strengthened our Program, and invested in the staff and infrastructure needed to meet this rising need. TIS now has 21 Transitional Housing units in Easton. With that growth comes an expanding budget—one that reflects both the realities of today’s challenges and our commitment to providing thoughtful, high-quality support that leads to lasting change.

None of this would be possible without you. Your partnership—whether through financial support, volunteerism, advocacy, or prayer—has allowed Talbot Interfaith Shelter to remain a place of safety, opportunity, and hope. You are not simply supporting a program; you are changing lives and strengthening our entire community.

As we look ahead to the coming year, we do so with confidence, determination, and deep appreciation for the community that stands beside us. Thank you for being part of this work and for believing, as we do, that homelessness is solvable when we face it together.

With gratitude and hope,

Julie Lowe
