
Talbot Interfaith Shelter (TIS) is dedicated to ending homelessness on Maryland’s Mid-Shore by providing Shelter, Stability, Support, and a path to Success for families and individuals in need. We are seeking exceptional Shelter Supervisors who have a desire to build a career and serve as productive members of our team.
Reliability, trustworthiness and responsibility are paramount qualities for candidates for this position. This is a part-time position- between 20 and 32 hours a week. Pay rate begins at $16/hour. Send cover letter and resume to julielowe@talbotinterfaithshelter.org.
Responsibilties:
- Provide supervision for shelter guests in our 2 shelter homes—Easton’s Promise for familiesand Evelyn’s Place for singles.
- Maintain a safe, supportive environment within the shelters.
- Monitor facilities to maintain safety of clients and shelter space.
- Support clients in following all shelter procedures.
- Keep shelters clean, restocked and up to TIS standards.
- Communicate observations and interactions with clients to shelter Case Manager,Operations Director and /or Executive Director.
- Participate in program meetings and relevant trainings as required.
- Complete incident reports as advised by Director.
- Adhere to agency policies, procedures and professional code of ethics.
- Complete all duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- One- year minimum experience working with the homeless population preferred.
- Ability to maintain clear personal and professional boundaries.
- Ability to keep interactions completely confidential.
- Ability to work effectively in constantly changing and sometimes demanding environment.
- Experience in working with a diverse population, with sensitivity to differences in culture, religion, sexual orientation, race, age, and physical and mental illness.
- Ability to remain alert and on duty throughout shifts.
- Ability to respond responsibly and calmly in emergency and crisis situations.
- Ability to communicate well both orally and in written form, and to follow detailed instructions.
- Ability to perform shift work. TIS is open 24/7/365. Shifts currently available are overnight–12 am-8 am.
- Candidate must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Remote work is not available for this position.
- Must be able to work weekends and some holidays.
- Must be willing to submit to a drug test and background check.
- Must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
